Here we have an excellent Tom Murphy Aged R9 from the Gibson Custom Shop! This 2009 model has a great top and is in great shape.
The guitar appears to be all original and case kept. We're blown away by the top, a beautiful ribbon curl that has a vintage vibe and is quite strong from all angles. The subtle checking and aging looks great against the wood grain. This one sports an Iced Tea finish that may have ambered slightly over the last 15 years. There is a light patina on the back of the guitar, most likely from resting in the case. There are a few faint dings and marks on the guitar that could be Murphy aging or from use, though we suspect this hasn't been played much.
The guitar is 8lbs 9oz and well balanced. The neck measures .935 to 1.040 at the 1st and 12th. It's a chunky, full neck with a decent shoulder about it, a touch bigger than most modern Historic '59 Reissues feel. The guitar has good resonance and growls when you dig in. It has a nice punch off the body, but is a bit more focused with less overtones than maybe the full hide glue guitars are these days. Still though, a really excellent example as most Murphy Aged guitars are.
This one includes the COA, hang tags, truss rod tool, and paperwork. Ships in a black Custom Shop case from the same era, in similar condition to the guitar. It most likely has been in this case this whole time.
