Up for grabs is a well-loved, fully functional Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Axcess Standard, complete with its original brown Lifton hardcase, certificate of authenticity, and paperwork.
From the front, the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard looks like most other Les Paul guitars. However, to see what makes it truly special, you need to turn it over and look at the back. The back of the guitar features two unique contours not typically found on a Les Paul. The first is a belly contour, similar to that of a traditional Stratocaster, providing immediate comfort against your midsection.
Additionally, the Les Paul Axcess boasts a beautifully sculpted neck heel, ensuring smooth hand movement up the fingerboard without encountering any uncomfortable edges when playing the upper frets. The neck-to-body joint is impeccably seamless.
Another modification is the chambered mahogany body, which is slightly thinner than a standard Les Paul, enhancing its comfort and playability. The Axcess is remarkably comfortable to hold, making it a delight to play.
Beyond the physical enhancements, the Les Paul Axcess includes some impressive internal upgrades. It features high-output 496R and 498T pickups, along with push/pull volume pots that allow individual coil-tapping for the neck and bridge pickups. This setup provides single-coil tones without the thin, weak sound often associated with them. These features combine to make the Gibson Les Paul Axcess an exceptionally versatile instrument, effortlessly transitioning from searing lead tones to fat rhythm crunches to bright, clear clean sounds full of chime and detail.
Though catered to the modern player, our Axcess has seen a few aesthetic changes by its original owner to give this example a vintage look. These include a pair of chrome-plated pickup covers, a historic cream pickguard, and a chrome backplate. Apart from these modifications, the guitar is otherwise stock.
Condition-wise, our Les Paul is a well-loved example, displaying general play-wear throughout with a series of cosmetic and superficial signs of use are clearly shown in the series of high-definition photos. Structurally, the guitar is sound, with no breaks or repairs, and is gig-ready! The fretboard is in fine shape, with all 22 frets showing plenty of life. All the onboard electronics work seamlessly as intended. Both pickups offer an authentic Les Paul-like tone, with all the bite and grit, while having a modern edge, running slightly hotter than your typical PAF humbucker.
