Description

This custom-ordered 1969 Gibson EMS-1235 looks stunning in its original Sunburst finish with factory Byrdland appointments! This guitar is referred to as a “Double Mandolin” in Gibson literature, but this particular example was ordered with an Octave neck and Byrdland scale guitar neck. This is surely the only one of its kind that we’re aware of from this era, and we’re certainly lucky to have it. Right off the bat, you can see how clean this example is, with very little wear. The ebony fretboards with block inlays provide a sleek look and are beautifully framed by this Byrdland-style fretboard binding. Both headstocks feature the flower pot inlay, while the Byrdland scale neck has headstock binding as well. The maple figure on the back of the Byrdland neck is truly stunning. This piece is fully original, down to its hardshell case, and even comes with its original hang tags and truss rod adjustment wrench!

Overall Condition: 9, impressions to the back of the body
