ES-175's aren't as popular as they once were but if you want a PAF equipped Gibson, it's the cheapest way to get one. It's almost like buying a pair of PAFs and getting the guitar for free. Seriously, I';m seeing sealed nickel PAFs for over $9000 a pair. It's no wonder so many ES-175's have been scavenged for the pickups. Not this one. Original sealed PAFs. You want to scavenge, be my guest but I won't do it. These are really sweet sounding guitars and while not exactly a rock and roll monster, still a great player with great tone. Steve Howe (Yes) played one and nobody complained. This one is mostly original with a couple of changes. The tuners are new Klusons but the guitar never had other brand tuners on it. So, no holes or enlarged holes. The tuner ferrules are original. The case is vintage (Victoria) but Gibson didn't use that brand so we know it's not original. Everything else is as it left the factory. neck is slim (.80" at the first fret). Frets are original. I would do a fret level soon but it doesn't need frets. There is a little warp to the pickguard and the retainer nut on the bracket is wrong. Small stuff. I'm seeing these well over $15000 lately. Pick this one up for thousands less.
