This is the real deal, a genuine Gibson ES-175/L-7 tailpiece from the 1950s-60s, not an Asian copy. It came to us, as so many do, with some of its “knuckles” broken, and we have had it restored to full function and looking pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Over the years we have undertaken restoration work, along with complete guitars of course, of various metal components of earlier instruments, including broken tuning machines from the 1930s and as far back as the 1850s and an untold number of these Gibson tailpieces, all with excellent results, This is done with the help of a jeweler friend who also happens to be a very knowledgeable guitar nut; the fact that he has a $40,000 laser welder, and knows how to use it quite well, doesn’t hurt. This particular tailpiece is of course nickel-plated, with the plating in excellent condition. And if you’ve got broken older metal parts of your own you’re welcome to contact us for repairs. Meanwhile, this one is available now, and stronger than it ever was from day one, for $295
