This 1958 Gibson ES-225TD features a rare and completely original two-tone "Red + Black" finish which makes it truly special. It was originally ordered and sold by Parker Music and remained in Houston, TX its entire life. The orignal Lifton case bears two Parker Music Medallions. Parker music is known to have sold several other custom color Gibson instruments in 1958, including an opaque red Les Paul Special. Though the Gibson ledgers end prior to this guitar's construction, it does mention other models, including a 125T in a custom "Red + Black" finish. Worth noting is the exact shade of red on this guitar would later become known as "Cardinal Red".
Aside from the rare and desirable finish, it is a great instrument in good vintage condition. It has been played lovingly and the original frets are low but still very playable. At some point the original tuner tips crumbled and were replaced with strip-style tuners. These have been restored to original-style Kluson reissue tuners.
The previous owner purchased the guitar with an era-correct short trapeze tailpiece and wooden bridge, but there was evidence it had previously had a long trapeze wraparound tailpiece installed, so an original-style wraparound tailpiece was added. Both are included along with the original case.
This instrument has been thoroughly vetted and its originality confirmed by Gibson guitars and a statement of its authenticity is included. A truly unique find and a stellar playing and sounding guitar!
