This is the cleanest 58 I've seen in years. It seems that 59's get all the glory but I'll put this one up against just about any 59 and bet that it smokes it. The best 335's ever made are late 58's (and 59's with a 58 factory order number). This guitar was shipped in mid December of 1958. It is 100% original. It needs tuner tips but I would take the originals off and install a set of exact match repros. Condition is 9+. There is no significant player wear and only some very light checking in the finish. The nickel shines like new. Big fat neck (.91" at the first fret and .99" at the 12th), thin top, long magnet PAFs, good neck angle. PAFs measure 8.3K (bridge) and 8.05K (neck). What more could you ask? Oh, yeah, it qualifies for my top twenty for tone and maybe into the top ten. Nice original brown Gibson badged case. This is a collector grade 335 that will be an excellent investment as well as a great guitar to play. It belongs in a museum but I think it wants to be played.
