A 335 from 1964 is a very popular guitar. It's not just the Clapton connection either. Even if EC never laid his hands on a 64, they would still be popular. It's the neck. After a few years of very slim necks, Gibson moved back to a big chunky neck profile; a profile that would last for just over a year before the narrow nut width was introduced and lasted from 65 until 1981. This 64 is 100% correct with one issue worth a mention. The previous owner tells me the harness was swapped out at some point. The harness is a vintage correct 64 with black beauty caps-just as it should be-it is identical to the original. A 64 generally doesn't have PAFs but occasionally they show up. This 64 has a PAF in the bridge and a patent number in the neck-both with full stickers. Early patent and late PAFs are identical anyway but ask 100 people which they would rather have and 100 people would say "PAF". Hardware is all original or correct except for one saddle which split and had to be replaced. Everything else is original except as mentioned above. This is a bright, aggressive guitar suited for rock and blues. Playability is excellent and the frets are 95% and are original. Condition is 9-/10. No major dings or scratches. Very light checking. The back of the neck is smooth and shows no wear. Case is a black Lifton and has one broken latch. Please note--I can't ship this guitar before March 24th.
