Description

This is a factory stop tail 1964 ES-335. It never had a Bigsby or other tailpiece. These have run up in price lately and folks are asking big bucks (like $25-28K) for them and that's pretty high. Here's the thing...I've sold more 64 335's in the past 5 years than most dealers sell in a lifetime. I've never gotten that much and I've sold some mint ones. So, don't overpay. This stop tail is priced like a Bigsby. It's got plenty of wear and it's been done up like Clapton's with gold patent pending Grovers, black knobs and a (real vintage) "custom" truss cover. The original knobs are in the case. The Hare Krishna stamp isn't permanently attached-it's also in the case. If you don't want the Clapton look, I can put it back to stock for you with a set of repro Klusons at no cost or a set of real 64's for $400. Pickups are stickered patents-one has been opened, the other is sealed. These are the same as late PAFs-purple windings. The guitar has been re-fretted. Neck profile is the typical medium chunky 64 profile that everybody loves. Note that it has the uncut center block like a dot neck. By 64, most have the cut out center block. Tone is what you expect-bright, articulate, loaded with harmonics and never muddy. Again. factory stop tail, no breaks, no extra holes or repairs 64 for $16K. Find another at that price and I'll buy it. The case is a correct 64 but probably not original since it has the wear mark from a Bigsby. No negotiating-the price is firm.
