1965 Gibson ES-335 Sunburst

With the "Covid Bump" in values receding into the past, guitars are settling into a stable price point. But that price point is a lot higher than it was pre Covid. That means your budget might not get you what you want. One of the best priced 335's right now is going to be a 65. There are a lot of 65 versions though. A lot of changes occurred in that year and that explains the rather large spread of prices. An early 65 is identical to a 64 (big neck, stop tail). Then the stop tail changed to trapeze. Then the nickel parts transitioned to chrome. Then the neck went from 1 11/16" at the nut to 1 5/8" and then to 1 9/16". The value gets lower with each change. The last of what I consider the great 65's is the big neck (1 11/16") version with chrome parts and trapeze. With a stop tail 64 sitting above $30K (and much higher), a big neck 65 in the low 20K's looks like a pretty good deal. It's easy to convert to stop tail if you must but even with the trapeze, they are wonderful players with (arguably) the best (64-65) neck profile Gibson ever made. This is a mid year, big neck, chrome parts sunburst 65 in 9+/condition. There is no visible wear. There is very light checking but not all over. All parts are original. Neck is 1 11/16" at the nut. Pickups are patent number-never opened, never out of the guitar. Original case.
