DESCRIPTION
Elegant! For your consideration a 1965 Gibson ES-345 TDSV in a Sunburst finish. First introduced in 1958 the ES-345 is essentially a souped up ES-335. Semi-hollow with the same body dimensions and two humbuckers. The main difference is its unique “Varitone” 6 way switch, a stereo output and gold hardware. The “Varitone” allows you to select different frequency scoops by running your signal through a variety of capacitors. This particular 345 has had its “Varitone” bypassed and is set up with a mono output! Making its play and sound very much like your standard 335!
Specs! This guitar is in good condition. It has had a refret. The “Varitone” and stereo output is bypassed. The tuners have been replaced with a set of gold Grover Rotomatics. New Tusq nut with a 1-9/16″ width. Mahogany neck with a depth of .82″ at the first fret and .97″ at the twelfth fret. It has a 24.75″ scale length. Cream bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with a 12″ radius and pearloid dual parallelogram inlays. Action measures 4/64″ straight across. Refretted with 22 jumbo frets currently in excellent condition. Laminated maple semi hollow body in a Sunburst finish. Original two Pat # Gibson humbuckers. The wiring was replaced with “Vintage Inspired Pickups” harness (new oil and paper caps, pots and wiring). Originally it came stock with a trapeze tail piece but was converted to a stop bar (original tail piece in case). Gold ABR-1 bridge with a Gold stop bar tail piece (studs glued in). Comes with its original hard shell case. Weighs 8 pounds.
Its hard to believe this guitar is 55 years old! The Patient stamp humbuckers sound killer. The bypassed “Varitone” and Stereo output make life a whole lot easier. Fast comfortable neck. Wonderful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard feels amazing with the excellent condition jumbo refret. Should have you rocking the decade away! Truly a joy to play!
