Description

We love the look of this original 1963 Gibson Everly Brothers in Black! The Everly Brothers saw extraordinary success in the 1950s. With hits like “Bye Bye Love,” and “Wake Up Little Susie,” the pair cemented their fame as one of the greatest musical duos of all time. Their country-influenced rock and roll harmonies and rhythmic guitar playing had a massive influence on music and pop culture in the years that followed. As a result of their success, Gibson produced the Everly Brothers Model from 1962-1972 and later reissued it as the J-180 in 1986. Pearl star inlays adorn the headstock and fretboard, and a gorgeous double tortoise pickguard applied across the front of the body completes the look. While it is widely known that this dual pickguard design can dampen the sound of a flattop, we are happy to report that the resonance on this guitar is astounding. It really has a deep, full tone. This particular guitar also has the model’s rarer bridge style, where each string is fed through the bridge itself.
