Unless you've got more money than you know what to do with, an original Explorer is unattainable. Fast forward to 1976 and Gibson reissues the Explorer in both the regular and "limited" edition. I don't see the difference but this is the "limited edition". This is bone stock except for the tailpiece. The original is in the case but I put on a lightweight one from the 70's to save a couple of ounces. These guitars are not terribly heavy but they aren't exactly lightweights either. This one is around 9 lbs. Original "tarback" pickups are very hot and will drive your amp hard for some very serious tone. Neck is relatively slim (.81") at he first fret but pretty big by the 12th (.96"). This is not one of the 76-77's with the baseball bat for a neck. Recent re-fret. Pot codes date to late 76. There is some light buckle rash on the back but over all, the original finish is in excellent condition. I believe the case to be original.
