1964 Gibson F-25 "Folksinger". A unique steel-string acoustic released at the height of the 60's Folk Revival movement, the F-25 was designed to attract players from the folk scene with features including a classical-sized body, flat fretboard, and wide 2" nut width. This example is in very good shape with an added end-pin jack, and normal aging with finish checking, and light dings. Strong and focused vintage woody tone with a nice balance. Plays very well and the roomy fretboard makes this guitar an ideal fingerpicker! Includes hardshell case.

"I'm no historian, but I can say with some confidence that the 1960s was one of the weirdest periods to be alive ever. The Berlin crisis. The Cuban missile crisis. Woodstock '69 (crisis). And the F-25 Folksinger. Designed in 1963, presumably with a crayon, it aimed to capture the attention of the youth taking part in the folk revival of the period. Apparently, the unwashed masses weren't massive enough, though, as the model saw very limited success and was discontinued in 1971.
Despite looking like the bastard child of an LG-1 and Mr. Potato Head, the instrument has a number of appealing features. Its non-radiused fretboard allows the player the familiar feel of a classical, while the steel string construction makes the instrument audible even in the most raucous drum circles. The wider-than-average 2” nut allows chords to be fingered cleaner and ring out with superior clarity. The legendary industrial designer Dieter Rams often famously gave the advice to make a design 'as simple as possible, but not simpler.' I'm quite sure whoever drew up the pickguard shape for the F-25 read this advice and misunderstood it. Even so, it's hard not to love this thing. It plays great, sounds great, and you don't have to look at it if it's on your lap."
