1957 Gibson F-5 in near mint condition. All original with minimal playwear. This is definitely the cleanest 50’s mandolin we’ve seen in the shop. The FON is a U prefix putting it at 1957 production while the label has a 1959 serial number. These were produced in extremely small numbers with only about 20 made in 1957. Larger peghead with the post-war Gibson logo, 2-piece maple neck with laminate ebony stripe, and triple bound top. These are great sounding mandolins albeit different in tone from the Loar era stuff. It has seen very little play in its life and will likely develop further with playing. This is a mandolin that was stored properly, and has a lot of life ahead of it. Comes with the original brown Lifton hardshell case with pink lining which is in near mint condition as well. A time capsule piece for the player or collector alike.
