Description

Check out the patina and checking on this 1966 Gibson Non-Reverse Firebird VII! As you can see, the wear on this piece shows a good amount of Blue, particularly on the back and edges of the guitar. Honestly, it’s tough to tell whether this Firebird is Pelham or Inverness. We’ve heard straight from Gibson employees who were working in the factory at the time that in the earlier years of making Inverness Green, Gibson would first spray Pelham Blue and top it off with yellow-tinted clear to get their Green shade. That can make it hard to identify earlier Inverness guitars, which is why we always look inside the guitar. On this guitar, areas protected from any UV light, such as under the guard and the control cavities, are green! The vibe is simply off the charts on this guitar, with checking, wear, and patina throughout this piece. Only 46 Firebird VIIs were shipped in 1966, making it that much cooler!

Overall Condition: 6.5, checking, patina, edgewear, fading, and patina throughout
