1991 Gibson Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus 1960 Trans Amber

Excellent condition featuring single cutaway mahogany body, carved two piece figured maple top with trans-amber finish, two Gibson 500T humbucking pickups with exposed black bobbins and white plastic pickup surrounds, two volume controls and two tone controls with gold plastic bonnet knobs, three way pickup selector switch with white plastic Rhythm and Treble selector ring and white plastic switch tip, stop tailpiece, wired ABR-1 bridge with six individual adjustable saddles and two height adjusting thumb wheels, single ply white plastic pickguard with metal mounting bracket, set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, small Gibson open book peghead shape with pearl Gibson logo inlay and gold silkscreen Les Paul Model logo, multi-ply black and white plastic bell shaped truss rod cover, three per side Gibson Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with green keystone tuning buttons, serial number ink stamped on the back of the peghead, single ply black plastic electronics control cover plate and switch cavity plate, two metal strap buttons, nickel plated hardware and original brown Tolex covered Gibson branded hard shell case with plush pink lining. This guitar weighs 9lb 3oz.

This 1991 Gibson Les Paul Classic is in excellent (almost near mint) cosmetic condition showing almost no signs of play wear throughout. This is the cleanest example we have seen in years. The neck profile is that of a 60s slim carve with a 1 11/16” nut width and it feels fantastic in the hand with a nice round back and shoulders. The original frets are in fantastic almost unplayed condition and have a lifetime of use left in them. This Classic plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard. The original Gibson 500T humbucking pickups in this Les Paul sound excellent and have tons of power! These pickups are amazing for heavy rock and overdriven sounds. Though most of these models that come through the shop have had these 500Ts removed and replaced, this one is bone stock. The wiring harness is untouched and the potentiometers date to the 22nd week of 1991. The rosewood used for the fretboard is very dark and attractive and the figured maple top has quite a bit of motion when turned in the light. These early Les Paul Classic models have a really fantastic top carve and peghead shape as well that, in my opinion, is exceptionally well done and great looking. Also, these early models say “Les Paul Model” instead of “Les Paul Classic” on the peghead. This instrument is housed in its original brown Tolex covered Gibson hard shell case (the top part of the lock is missing - see photos) and also includes its original truss rod cover with the gold “Classic” logo and its original “1960” pickguard. These early Les Paul Classic models are getting a bit hard to find these days in unmodified super clean condition. If you are looking for one of these models, this example is top notch.
