1957 Gibson J 160 E Sunburst SN# U 22622

The Gibson J160 E was the writing guitar of choice for many of The Beatles early hits. This incredibly clean and original example from 1957 has the laminate top (on models made after 1955) 20 frets (on models after 1956) top hat knobs (starting in 1957) along with an Adjustable ceramic bridge that showed up in that year. The result is a beautiful, more focused sound with less feedback potential (as with the earlier non-laminate top models). This instrument is 100% original as it left the
Gibson factory in 1957. From the original white button single line Kluson tuners, the factory original small frets (in excellent condition) on Brazilian rosewood fretboard, trapezoid inlays, tortoise pickguard (and side fret dots/markers), binding on the neck, front and back of the body, P-90 Pickup (measuring a strong 7.9k Ohms) beautiful Brazilian rosewood bridge with ceramic, adjustable saddle and original pots/wiring with gold knobs. This guitar appears to have been very well maintained and played sparingly, gently and carefully. It is in very clean condition with only a few very small signs of handling and use. This Gibson J-160 E comes with its original chipboard case however, for its protection the guitar also comes with and will be shipped in a much stronger, later (likely late 60’s/70’s) Gibson hard shell case.
