J-160E of the first year of reissue which is closer to the original.

Gibson / 1996 1964 J-160E

The 1964 J-160E is so famous for John Lennon's use.
The original is now at a premium among 1960s Gibson flat-top guitars.

This time we have a reissue model made in 1996.
The J-160E was revived around 1990 when the Montana factory was relocated, but until 1995, it had a solid body top and X-bracing.
In 1996, it was reissued with a laminated body top, ladder bracing, and adjustable bridge, etc., making it more similar to the original 1964 model.
The body sides and top are laminated, and the body back is veneer.

The sound does not collapse or break up when playing like cutting, so if you are looking for an acoustic guitar that you can play with a lot of energy, this is the one you should definitely pick up.
I thought that choosing a 0.60mm pick would give a crisp sound, and would be a good match for this guitar.

The frets have been refretted to match the original with wider frets, and the fret height is much higher than the original.
The pegs have been replaced with Goto Cruson style 1 knob pegs.
The saddle has also been replaced with a wooden frame with a resin saddle.

This instrument is a must-have for those who play it.
The J-160E is rarely reissued as a new product nowadays, so it is a very rare look and sound.
