1946 Gibson J-45 Sunburst

Sunburst, refinished. This cannon is an opportunity for someone that wants an early script logo J-45 for stage. First, the finish (except the back) will fool most. Second, the tone. These are famous for big full rich legendary tone. Third, it already has a pickup installed. It’s a Mojo Tone NC-2 mic blend sound hole pickup. No quacky transducer tone here. These have a natural tone and use common CR 2032 batteries.

This is all refinished. It also has many cleated repaired cracks and a well done patch in front of the bridge. The grain lines match up perfectly. The back had crack repairs and was refinished again. Hey, it’s over 75 years old. Also has Waverly three on a plate tuners installed which look real but work better. In 2013 it had a neck reset and refret done along with a new bridge plate, bone saddle and nut. All work done by the respected Hoffman Guitars in Minneapolis. About $1200 worth of work done. The papers are in the case.

It has a tapered headstock and the neck is big with a very slight V. Yes, it has a working adjustable truss rod and it has a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard.

The guitar sits in a new Harptone Red Line Deluxe case. These are recreations of historic cases, lightweight, nickel hardware, deep purp-le interior and padded handle. They list at $900.

A fine early J-45 now restored with 80 year old wood. Comes with the original bridge pins in the case.
