Just purchase from the family of the original owner, this great looking 1963 J-45 Adj. is in excellent shape. Included is the ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT from Haleyville, Alabama that shows the owner purchased it on time.
All parts and finish are 100% original. Gibson used an adjustable plastic bridge in 1963 and 1964. There is a small crack on the bass side of the bridge that you see on virtually all of these models. This crack is stable and does not affect how the guitar plays. Although the bridge looks to be lifting a bit, it was not glued on at the factory. Instead, it was secured by two screws and remains very stable.
There are NO CRACKS anywhere in the spruce or mahogany. The action is very comfortable and can be adjusted up or down. It has not had a neck set and does not need one now.
Although a plastic bridge is aesthetically unpleasing, these guitars are renown for their excellent tone. The mids and highs are bright and clear, and the low end is tight and well balanced. The guitar has the very desirable wide neck that makes it a pleasure to play (1 11/16" at the nut). Comes in a non-original hardshell case.
