Just in from the collection of Joe Bonamassa! This stunning 1955 Gibson L-5 CES features a remarkable flamed maple back and sides with a spruce top. The 17" wide body with carved top and back deliver an acoustic resonance that make this an outstanding instrument even without plugging it in! The original Alnico single coil pickups translate that great sound to an amplifier making this a perfect instrument for jazz, jump blues, and even rock n' roll: Scotty Moore of Elvis's band famously used a Blonde L-5 after switching from his 295 in 1955. A crack in the side near the jack was professionally repaired by Joe Glaser and is now nearly undetectable. This instrument was also traced to create the template from which Gibson's current L-5 CES models were based. The guitar includes the original brown Lifton hardshell case. This beautiful guitar is accentuated by the original and rare "Blonde" finish making this a truly ideal addition to any collection.
