Description

This 1971 Gibson L-5CES in its original Sunburst finish looks almost brand new at first glance! This guitar must’ve spent a lot of time in the case, as it is stunning how well this beautiful finish is preserved. The flamed maple back, sides, and neck pops, and the spruce top has a gorgeous warmth to it. The 17” wide body makes this guitar boom, and the overall fullness and depth of the sound are incredible both acoustically and amplified. Additionally, the comfortable medium C neck tapers up nicely for an enjoyable playing experience and a cozy hand feel. The finish, frets, and electronics are entirely original, with an added strap button to the neck heel. The original pickguard was most likely off-gassed causing the humbucker covers to tarnish, since an identical replacement has been installed. The knobs have also been replaced with period-correct style “witch hat” knobs. There is a crack on the bass side of the body, but this has been professionally glued and is now stable.

Overall Condition: 8.5, light playwear
