A stunning blonde is a wonderful thing to hold, especially when it’s a 1955 Gibson L-5CN in near mint all original showroom condition. We are excited to offer this pristine example for sale and are pleased to assess its condition as near mint all original. This classic blonde cutaway acoustic arch top is Gibson’s most famous model second only in price to their Super 400 a slightly fancier and larger guitar. The L-5 from the beginning defined what an arch top acoustic guitar should be. It was Lloyd Loar Gibson’s genius collaborator employee who is attributed with the first production L-5 in the early 1920’s. The Loar L-5 was the perfect arch top guitar and the early models were the inspiration of many later arch top builders such as D’Angelico. The L-5 remains in Gibson’s product line today. This particular guitar was made in 1955 with a cutaway, no electronics in blonde, in my opinion the best possible variant it could be. By this time the L-5 had become a 17-inch wide guitar and what was the L-5 Premier became the L-5C, if blonde add the N for natural S for sunburst. This guitar is near mint, there’s almost nothing to describe in the way of wear the guitar has experienced almost no playing time. If one looks closely there are some very small and minor sporadic almost non-existent marks as well as a couple of infrequent weather checks. The original pick guard has deteriorated some, it is gassing and where this is true has discolored the area around it. The original gold plating is almost perfect with minor discoloration on the tailpiece only; the pick guard bracket has turned green over the perfect gold. The neck is perfectly straight with a working truss rod; the frets are perfect as new and display no playing wear. This beautiful blonde does not sag anywhere, there are no structural issues, no modifications or repairs, the cosmetics speak for themselves. Included is the original brown Lifton hard shell case as spectacular as the guitar itself, near perfect all original with burgundy plush interior.

We accept Visa, Bank wire transfer, cashiers check, bank check, personal check or cash. No credit cards, if you need to use a credit card or even finance an item this can be done through Reverb.com.

We ship USPS Priority and Fed Ex Ground next business day, all instruments are carefully packed utilizing new shipping materials, all instruments are insured by Heritage Insurance. All parcels are flat rate shipped and are the same price for all buyers in the domestic USA, international shipping is also flat rate for anywhere in the world. The price is based on the cost of new shipping materials, boxes, bubble wrap, tape and labor and has nothing to do with where you are or your ability to pick it up in person. It is not in our business model to offer in person demonstrations of instruments or in person pickup, both of these things take an employee and extra time. If you have a limit as to what you want to spend on shipping please factor this into you instrument offer as we accept reasonable offers on most items. If an item doesn’t allow a lower offer it’s because it’s already been discounted and already at its lowest price. We recommend that you don’t chose an instrument based on shipping cost alone as there are more important issues all of which we have well covered. I might point out that all of our guitars come with professional detailing and set up, this has real value and keeps one from getting inferior work from an unqualified retail establishment. Thanks for your understanding. John Russell Nelson owner VGA Vintage Gear America
