Offered for sale;
c1975 Gibson L6-S serial number 114018. This guitar is in very good condition. The neck and frets are fine, cosmetically there are some “nicks and marks” about the body, some finish wear on the back of the neck. The guitar’s condition shows that it has been played and enjoyed.
Originally fitted with Bill Lawrence Super Humbuckers, the neck pickup has been replaced with a DiMarzio humbucker requiring some “mods” to be made in the neck pickup cavity to accommodate the pole pieces.
Additional modifications include eliminating the original 6 way switch and going to a quite useful 3 way pickup selector toggle switch. Volume-volume-tone controls and a single coil tap on the DiMarzio humbucker replace the original master volume, mid-range and treble roll-off controls. The strap button was replaced with the neck strap button moved to the side, Les Paul stylee. New truss rod cover fitted.
It appears that at some point in its Rock & Roll life the neck separated from the body. Structurally the repair is 100% sound and the finish touch up was pretty good but noticeable.
Production of the L6-S ran from 1973-80, originally designed to be a solid body version of the L5 hollowbody jazz guitar, as visually the body shape is wider than a Les Paul with the bass side upper bout resembling a more traditional hollowbody shape. As I can attest as an owner of an L6-S since 1974, the strong suit of this guitar is the wonderful speed of the neck and the access to the full 24 fret fingerboard.
When this guitar was introduced, there was no other 2-octave guitar as easy to play as this. Notable players included Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin.
Original hard case with new leopard lining included.

*Please note: We do our best giving descriptions of our used items. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
