Description

Here we have an original 1968 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, with a rare crown inlay on the headstock! After being discontinued for years, Gibson reintroduced the Goldtop in 1968 using popular specs from their 1956 model. Notably, it had a solid mahogany body with a maple top, a tune-o-matic bridge, and two P-90 pickups with cream covers. As mentioned previously, this guitar has a crown inlay rather than a Les Paul silkscreen on the headstock. Only the first 20 or so Goldtops made for this reissue received a crown inlay. Due to this feature, this guitar and the others from that initial batch are quite rare! This guitar is a fantastic player’s piece, with a comfortable neck, easy-playing action, and frets in good shape. There are some wear marks across the guitar, as it was clearly well-favored. We can tell both strap buttons on this guitar have been moved in the past. The top strap button was moved once and filled, and the bottom strap button has been moved twice, filled, and touched up slightly for a nicer look. If you would like any more detailed pictures of this, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Overall Condition: 8, overall playwear, large ding in the side of the headstock
