1992 Gibson USA Les Paul Classic Heritage Cherry Sunburst w/OHSC, Good Wood Era MOJO, Slash, Jessica

Slash fans, if you’re on the hunt for a “Good Wood Era” Les Paul reminiscent of Slash’s famous "Jessica," or if you’re seeking an honest player’s Les Paul with bags of mojo, look no further!

Up for grabs is a 1992 Gibson Les Paul Classic in an extremely faded Heritage Cherry Sunburst, featuring a stunningly dark and rich rosewood fretboard. With its authentic wear and tear, you could easily mistake this one for a ‘50s original! Included is the original Gibson TKL brown hard case with a pink interior.

First introduced in 1990, the Les Paul Classic draws inspiration from the 1960 Les Paul Standard, incorporating several features from the golden era of Les Paul production. These features include an accurate '50s headstock shape, push-in tuner bushings, an ABR-1 bridge, a slimmer 1960 neck profile, and the "Les Paul Model" silkscreen text on the headstock face – the text was changed to "Les Paul Classic," a modification that disappointed many vintage Les Paul enthusiasts.

Striking and solidly built, these 90’s Les Pauls are celebrated as part of Gibson's "Good Wood Era," and upon inspection, it's evident why.. A straightforward comparison with a current Gibson USA Les Paul reveals a marked difference in fit and finish. Our Les Paul also showcases a two-piece carved maple top atop a mahogany body, complemented by a one-piece mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fretboard. This combination delivers exceptional resonance, sustain, and a natural acoustic bark. It comes equipped with the original 496R and 500T humbucker pair, ensuring powerful and dynamic sound.

Condition-wise, this Les Paul Classic previously suffered a clean headstock break, which has since been expertly repaired by our trusted luthier, Ben of Beej Guitar Repairs. The guitar is now 100% functional and structurally sound. While we considered refinishing the back of the neck, we opted to retain its authentic, worn appearance, consistent with the guitar's overall patina.

The rest of the guitar shows plenty of genuine wear and tear, giving it a vintage aesthetic that makes it one of the most eye-catching ’90s Les Pauls we’ve come across. The wear on the back of the body and neck, where the wood is now exposed, along with the various dings and dents, all contribute to this Les Paul’s unique character and charm.

The ‘60s slim-taper profile neck and fretboard are in excellent shape, with all 22 frets recently dressed to ensure optimal playability, while still retaining plenty of life. The nickel hardware has developed a beautifully aged patina, adding to the guitar's vintage appeal. Interestingly, this Classic comes with factory-fitted Grover Rotomatics, which is uncommon for this model but is indeed 100% stock and original.

The original electronics, including all four pots, function flawlessly, while the stock 496R and 500T humbuckers deliver the powerful, dynamic sound this model is known for. This one weighs in at approximately 9.7lbs.

Included is the original, now discoloured “1960” scripted pickguard and bracket, which arrived unattached. We've decided to keep it that way out of preference!

It’s been expertly cleaned and setup by Ben of Beej Guitar Repairs with a fresh set of 10-46 strings
