According to Larry Meiner's "Gibson Shipping Totals" book, there were 60 Ebony and White 20th Anniversary Les Paul Customs made in 1975. There is no designation of how many were left handed. Suffice it to say that this is a really rare beast!
If you're a lefty looking for not only a killer guitar but an investment piece, here is your ticket. By knowing how many 70s Gibsons were made, you can count on the numbers to insure that you truly are buying a rare guitar.
This is a fine example too. The only change from original is the output jack plate. The change seems to have had a slightly different screw footprint than the original, so someone filled the mounting screw holes to fit the new part. Two new screws were used for the new plate. Everything else on the guitar is original.
Pots date to mid/late 1974, and the pickups illustrate a transition that was happening at the time, from patent sticker humbuckers to embossed patent numbers. This isn't the first time I've seen this in a Gibson from the period, but it has been a while.
The frets on the guitar are in incredibly good shape. It looks like the guitar was played very little. The frets are the original, small material Gibson used at the time, but because they haven't been played to death, and/or leveled/ they feel great and allow for bends and solid playing.
The case is original for the period, something we had here in the stash for just such an arrival. The guitar came to us in a 90s case. The handle on the case we've put with the guitar was missing when I got it so we put a new rescue handle on it.
