Description

EX-. Ebony finish, 3 pickups, maple board with pearl blocks. Gibson shipping totals show that 106 3-pickup customs shipped in 1978 (but no mention of maple fingerboards). The shipping log shows that 457 shipped in 1977 that are identified as “maple fingerboard - Ebony” (but no mention of 3 pickups.) What’s our point? That these are rather rare. Now you all know the story of Jimmy Page’s lost Les Paul ending up at Willie’s (great guitar story, look it up.) So when we see these we let Willie wax nostalgic about having Jimmy’s guitar hanging around the store. This guitar is all-stock, no breaks or repairs, only some buckle rash on the back but no bare wood. Some gold hardware with plating worn off or pitted, but all rather normal wear yet no abuse. Under the hood: 1977 pots and matching “tarback” Gibson humbuckers. The maple fingerboard is very unusual and unlike Fender, who used a plastic finish on fingerboards in this period, Gibson still used real lacquer. The frets are in good shape and the tuners are original with the Gibson logo stamped into them. Comes in its original hard case.
