This 1980 Gibson Les Paul Firebrand is in very good vintage cosmetic condition showing some signs of play wear and age throughout. This Lester has been through some things in its 42 years and is ready to tell some more stories! This guitar has a professionally repaired peghead crack (see photos). The work was very well done and is very hard to photograph. It’s rock solid and appears to be a pretty old repair. The body and neck have been stained a bit darker - not the most pro work, but does look pretty cool and gives it a bit of character. The knobs and pickup surrounds are replacements as are the reflective metal pickguard and truss rod cover. The pickups in this Firebrand are a set of Seymour Duncan APH-2 Alnico II Pro Slash series humbuckers with zebra bobbins which date to 2013. The potentiometers are original and there is a visible code of 1377927 indicating that this component was made by CTS on the 27th week of 1979. The neck profile on this guitar is that of a very comfortable medium C shape with a 1 11/16” nut width. The original frets have been dressed a time or two and have quite a bit of life left in them. This instrument has just received a professional set up and it plays superb up and down the fingerboard with nice low action and great intonation. This guitar feels fantastic to play, like an old glove! The Slash signature pickups really sound outstanding in this Firebrand - paired with the mahogany body and ebony fingerboard, it all just works well together and sounds exceptionally pleasing. If you are looking for an exceptionally cool, great sounding vintage instrument that is ready for any gig, this 1980 Firebrand will really deliver the goods at a killer price. A gem of a guitar shipped safely and promptly from our little shop in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
