Before the introduction of the Gibson Custom Shop Historic line of official reissues, Gibson began producing replicas of their late '50s Bursts as early as 1982. Over time, these replicas became closer to what would eventually be released in 1993 as the first Custom Shop Historic '59 Les Paul Reissue, or the R9. These guitars from 1989-1992 represent the closest analogs to Gibson's early Custom Shop models. This one is all original except for the neck pickup tone pot, and features a very rich Sunburst finish, '57 Classic pickups, and all the other standard appointments you'd expect from a '59 Reissue.
