Now available, a 1963 Gibson Les Paul/SG Standard in its original cherry finish!

This example is among the last of this model to be called the Les Paul, before transitioning to the SG name. It features a chunky 63-64 style neck profile, and the sideways trem with the 'Les Paul' engraved truss rod cover.

The guitar has had some changes including:

  • At some point the neck heel was professionally repaired and reset, its solid and ready to play. There is also a repaired crack by the input jack.

  • The pickups have been replaced with later 60s patent # decal t-top pickups.

  • The tuners are 70s patent pend. Grovers, and the bridge is a modern replacement.

Otherwise the guitar still retains its original cherry finish which has some wear and checking. The original plastics remain, as does the wiring harness minus two of the wires to the switch. All 4x centralab pots remain as do the original capacitors, switch, and input jack.

The original frets are low, however play surprisingly well with a nice low easy action after a recent professional setup.

A great playing example of an early Les Paul/SG Standard, includes its original case.
