This 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Sunburst is an amazing example of the “Holy Grail” of all vintage guitars! As you can see, this piece is in great condition, with signs of normal playwear from its now 66-year lifespan. Most notably, the aniline-based red dye has been completely faded out of this Burst, leaving a stunning “Lemoned” out color over its beautifully flamed Maple top. All components are original except for the added Bigsby and replaced tuner buttons. This Bigsby features a side screw mount, so luckily, there are no”snakebite” holes in the top or any real fade under the tailpiece. The Bigsby and pearl covers could easily be removed and replaced with a stud tailpiece. Currently, the guitar is loud and resonant unplugged, and the low action makes this Burst a pleasure to play. Plugged in, the guitar is even better, sporting two fairly hot PAF pickups that push just about every amp we have into sonic heaven. This guitar retains its original Brown Lifton case, which is also in great shape and looks to bear the name “Tom Waggoner,” who we cannot find any information on, but we commend his taste in choosing this incredible guitar. Bursts with this kind of top and color do not come up often, so now’s your chance to get an ultimate Les Paul!
Overall Condition: 9, some weather checking present, light playwear to the back and some minor edge touch up at the tip of the headstock
