Now available is a stunning, all-original Centennial 1994 Gibson Les Paul Standard, featuring a captivating smoky Vintage Sunburst finish that beautifully complements its dark rosewood fretboard. This exceptional instrument is a prime example of Gibson's craftsmanship, and it comes complete with its original brown hard case and all accompanying paperwork.
Highlighting the timeless Les Paul essence, this guitar embraces the classic recipe of a single-piece Mahogany body complemented by a carved Maple cap. The 60’s profile mahogany neck, adorned with a bound Rosewood fingerboard featuring trapezoid position markers, characterises the era's Les Pauls.
Striking and solidly built, these 90’s Les Pauls are celebrated as part of Gibson's "Good Wood Era," and upon inspection, it's evident why.. A straightforward comparison with a current Gibson USA Les Paul reveals a marked difference in fit and finish.
Our Les Paul is in commendable condition, showcasing a fairly clean exterior that reflects its careful maintenance over the years. While there are a few minor blemishes, the most notable is a set of lacquer burns at the point where an A-frame stand came into contact with the body, resulting in a subtle chemical reaction. Beyond this, the guitar displays surface marks consistent with general play-wear, along with age-related signs such as lacquer crazing, all of which are expected in an instrument of its vintage. Importantly, the guitar remains fully functional, with no breaks or repairs compromising its structural integrity.
The neck and fretboard are meticulously preserved, with all 22 frets displaying minimal wear, ensuring a consistently smooth playing experience across the entire range. The chrome hardware retains its original luster and operates without flaw, and the factory-installed electronics perform as intended.
The stock humbuckers provide a wide tonal palette. The 490R neck pickup, with its Alnico II magnets, offers a rich, vintage voice, while the 498T bridge pickup, enhanced by an Alnico V magnet and a slight overwind, delivers added punch and clarity. This particular Les Paul weighs in at 9.7 lbs.
