Description

Well, here's a guitar amplifier you don't run across as often as others, a 1962 Gibson Maestro Reverb-Echo. This example resides in a repurposed 60's Rickenbacker Dove-tailed joinery pine cabinet with the original tolex removed and a nice finish applied. The chassis, cabinet and speaker are all reclaimed by our amp tech, Pat Miller, from the shop of a mutual friend who unfortunately passed last year. Bringing our friends projects back to life has been cathartic and has produced some unique and very cool pieces like this one.

I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind the name but... the "Echo" part of the name is a misnomer, as what Gibson refers to as "Echo" is in fact Tremolo! The amp chassis odel number GA-1RT at roughly fifteen watts pumping through the Celestion Blue G12 speaker, the "echo tremolo" nails that CCR "Born On The Bayou" sound, vintage all the way!

Our Amp Tech went through the amp thoroughly, replaced the filter caps, SS Rectifier, and added another filter stage. The after-market foot switch plugs into the top mounted "monitor" 1/4" jack for turning reverb and or tremolo, on and off. There is a pot inside the chassis that allow adjustment of the overall tremolo speed range, a pretty cool feature. The tremolo does take a few seconds to kick in when the pedal is stomped, just FYI.
