Sometimes we run across a time capsule and this is one of them. The second owner bought it in 1970. He was a lefty and figured the double cutaway would be his ticket, but it didn't work out. He ended up playing bass, and the Melody Maker went under the bed for over four decades. This looks to be all original with a little fret wear on the first and second frets, but plenty of fret height for a few more levels and dressings. The fretboard is luxurious and inviting. It has a perfect setup from our local luthier and the sound is amazing. The hinges and latches on the original case are intact, but the handle gave up the ghost.
When we received it, the neck joint had become detached. It's simply came unglued for some reason. We had our luthier reattach it with hide glue and drop fill around it. Impossible to tell, but it needs to be disclosed.
