Summary: The Gibson Midtown is a really versatile instrument with modern features- like its strategically chambered mahogany body and jumbo frets but has the vintage charm of the nitrocellulose lacquer finish, 60s carved neck and AlNiCo V P90 pickups. This one is in great used condition and has just been setup and restrung by our in house luthier with low action. The frets are in great shape and it plays beautifully on its’ superbly carved neck. It ships in its original Gibson hardshell case.

Body: A solid mahogany body is strategically chambered for optimum resonance and capped with a solid maple top with traditional f-holes built with the Midtown line's advanced chambered, solid-wood construction (rather than laminated top and back) to truly embody the optimum marriage of solidbody and archtop. Finished in nitrocellulose lacquer over wine stained body.

Neck: Its solid mahogany neck is carved to a fast, comfortable '60s-style profile that measures .800" at the 1st fret and .875" at the 12th. The genuine rosewood fingerboard carries 22 medium-jumbo frets and is inlaid with traditional acrylic trapezoids that link the Midtown Standard P-90 to one of its predecessors, the Les Paul Standard, while cream binding enhances both fingerboard and body top. The scale length is 24.75” and the nut width is 1.695”.

Pickups/Hardware: Gibson USA loads the guitar with a pair of fat- and rich-sounding P-90 single-coil pickups. Each pickup is made to the same specs as the vintage examples that made the P-90 famous, including coils wound from 42-AWG wire with two Alnico V magnets loaded beneath each pickup. To keep it all simple, Gibson USA routes these pickups through the traditional 3-way toggle switch and master volume and tone controls with classic gold Speed Knobs. For optimum resonance and sustain, the Midtown Standard P-90s carries the classic pairing of a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece with a PLEK-cut Corian nut up top, partnered with a set of premium Grover Keystone tuners.

Cosmetics: This Gibson is in excellent used condition save for a few pick scratches on the top and some very small dings here and there. There are some light scratches in the top where it looks like the previous owner had wiped the guitar down with a towel that wasn’t fit for wiping lacquer finishes. The scratches are not super obvious and are only detectable in the right light. I have tried to capture these scratches in the photos.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape with no grooves or divots.

Modifications: Someone has filled some of the strings slots with super glue in order to raise the height of the strings at the nut.

Weight: 8 lbs, 5 oz.

Case: This Gibson comes with the original Gibson hardshell case with white plush interior and we will ship it professionally packed and fully insured!
