Description

This 1934 Original Jumbo Flattop replica is based off of an actual vintage 1934 Jumbo acoustic guitar, serial number 507A, found in the collection of a vintage Gibson expert, Gary Burnett. This was the original prototype. In order to replicate this rare acoustic gem with the highest fidelity, Burnett made this guitar available for Gibson to study—they studied everything from the original's precise measurements, to its vintage appointments and everything in between. This 1934 Original Jumbo Flattop Reissue captures every nuance of the original guitar from its classic aesthetic, warm, broken-in woody tone and vintage feel.

This 1934 Original Jumbo acoustic guitar is made in the Gibson Acoustic Montana factory, and features a handcrafted construction throughout. The Adirondack red spruce top is sanded to a thinner dimension, just as the original guitar, and features a smaller 3 3/4” sound hole and accurate tortoise pick guard. The top and back employ historically accurate, hand-finished bracing to the specs of the original, cloth stays and x-brace covers are applied by hand. The body of this 1934 Jumbo reissue matches the exact depth of the original guitar and boasts an accurate cream colored binding with smaller dimensions. The sunburst finish matches the original guitar exquisitely—with a classic pear-shaped center that perfectly fades into the dark rich brown edges on the top, and a tint of red in the center of the back and sides. This 1934 Original Jumbo reissue also sports a period-correct interior back strip that's been cut and finished by hand and a head block is configured with notched corners. Each part of the body has been assembled with period-correct hide glue.

The mahogany neck is carved into a heavy, vintage-correct V profile and is topped off with a fully bound rosewood fingerboard with beautifully simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The 1934 Original Jumbo features a historically correct string spacing on the bridge and neck, and an period-accurate 1.75 nut width. The tapered peg head flaunts an elegant vintage script Gibson logo and houses a set of open-geared vintage Waverly tuning machines.

Now's your chance to own an exacting replica of one of the most coveted and rare acoustic guitars of all time, but just as its predecessor, the Gibson 1934 Original Jumbo Acoustic Guitar reissue is also extremely rare, with a limited run of only 100 instruments. This true hand-made, American legend comes with the full protection of a Gibson hard-shell case.
