Offered for sale:
Used c1975 Gibson RB-250 Mastertone banjo serial number 108003.
This banjo is in very good condition; neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically there are some minor nicks and marks, the arm rest has some tarnishing, there is some minor discoloration on a small spot of binding and some wear on the head.
The Gibson RB-250 Mastertone was the working-musician’s banjo for decades and offers that classic Gibson sound with the “Snap” to the treble attack that only Gibson’s have. This is essentially the same banjo as the famous Gibson RB-3 without the Wreath inlay, Gibson built a few RB-250 banjos every year from 1949 until 2010, when a devastating flood in Nashville destroyed Gibson’s Banjo and Mandolin facilities.
Black painted multiply wooden rim assembly, chrome-plated metal parts (tube & plate flange, tension hoop, armrest, tailpiece); flat-head tone ring & original Gibson tailpiece.
Resonator is built of Mahogany and bound on either edge. It has a 26.5" mahogany neck w/ 1 11/16” nut width; ebony fingerboard w/ MOP inlay; unbound fiddle peghead equipped with original Gibson tuners.
This Gibson RB-250 Mastertone is a wonderful banjo with almost 50 years of history and will continue to provide enjoyment for many more!
Original hard-shell case included.
“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship.
*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
