SG-100 was released in 1971, SG-200 with 2 pickups at the same time, and SG-250 with 2 pickups and 2 slide switches. The model numbers were then succeeded to SGI, SGII, and SGIII. The SG-100 with Melody Maker pickups was only released in 1971 and is a very rare model. This model is a refinished SG-100 with the pickups modified to the pickups used in the Gibson Melody Maker of the 50s. The sound is a shimmering sound characteristic of single coils, but the position on the front position adds warmth to the sound, giving it an exquisitely well-balanced and comfortable sound. The neck is thin with a strong taper characteristic of its age. This is a rare guitar that attracts attention from Gibson enthusiasts who say, "This is a rare guitar.
