In 1961, the specifications were changed from the single-cutaway Les Paul model to a one-piece Les Paul model with a deep, sharp double cutaway and a thin mahogany body. The name itself was changed to SG (abbreviation of Solid Guitar). The single-cutaway Les Paul was later revived, but the SG remained a long-selling guitar that is still on the market today. It is one of the masterpieces produced by Gibson, which has captivated many musicians, including Pete Townsend, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, and Eric Clapton.
This SG Special features dot position marks and a large pickguard. The sound is tight and edgy with thin mahogany, and it also has a good punch. The pickups have been replaced with Burstbucker #1/#2 for a vintage-like sound that is easy to nuance. The high position is fully exposed, making it easy to play up to the high position, and the lightweight body is easy to hold, making this model very popular among petite players and women. This SG is also equipped with a short vibe roller, making it a cool looking SG.
