This late ‘60s SG Standard is a lightweight vintage Gibson in very good player’s condition. The 24.75” scale neck features 22 frets and a nut width of 1 and 9/16th”. The frets are flat and wide but you might be able to squeak a level and re-crown out of this one. The pick guard, gears, knobs, input jack, fret markers and truss cover all appear to be original minus the replacement strap button. The ornate chrome tail piece has been disabled on this one and left in place for strictly decorative purposes. There is a small bit of white residue on the treble hand side that may be from a re-gluing of the tail piece at some point but being that it’s disabled it has no effect on the playability. It was replaced with an older standard Gibson stop tailpiece that works great. With the modified tail piece this SG keeps its tune much more consistently than it would have with the original set up. The bridge features the standard plastic saddles that originally came with this model at the time. The deep cherry finish is well checked and there are a high amount of small paint specks on the top with a good amount of scratches on the back and sides of the guitar. The back of the neck finish is in much better condition with only light to average wear and very few dings and dents. The top back bout once had an flower-shaped sticker that was recently removed and there is a trace of it left in the finish, although it’s difficult to discern without holding it up to a strong light.
