In 1961, the specifications were changed from the single-cutaway Les Paul model to a one-piece mahogany body with a deep, sharp double cutaway. The name itself was changed to SG (abbreviation of Solid Guitar). The single-cutaway Les Paul was later revived, but the SG remained a long-selling guitar that is still on the market today. It is one of the masterpieces produced by Gibson, which has captivated many musicians, including Pete Townsend, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, and Eric Clapton. This SG Standard features a large pickguard, covered humbuckers, a neck with cell-ban binding, and block position marks. The sound is tight and edgy with thin mahogany, and it also has a good punch. The high position is fully exposed, making it easy to play up to the high position, and the body is lightweight and easy to hold, making this model very popular among petite players and women. Many people have said, "It's a basic Strat, but it's easy to play." We can recommend this Gibson guitar to those who are not comfortable with Les Pauls.
