This gorgeous SJ-200N was sent back to Gibson in the 50's or 60's to have a new back put on. They were nice enough to use a spectacular piece of flamed maple! As was typical of the time, the serial # (A-3918) was stamped on the back of the headstock. The FON # on the neck block is 1300 4; both are consistent with the model year 1949.

The guitar also has a 50's pickguard and at one time had Grover tuners (holes have been doweled and redrilled; repro tuners are now installed). There is a small repaired crack by the soundhole under the fingerboard.

The tone is exceptionally fine. Not too boomy (like a lot of 200's) and a very nice midrange - you'll want to record with this one!  Action is very comfortable and there's a good amount of room on the saddle. It has not had a neck set and does not need one now. Comes in a very nice 50's Gibson Brown hardshell case.
