A banner Southern Jumbo is a rare and beautiful thing and this is one of the best sounding guitars that have graced our shop. This guitar came to us needing some work so we entrusted it to our good friend and luthier extraordinaire, Nate Wood, who addressed every issue with the care and attention to detail he always does. Thanks, Nate!
This guitar received a neck reset, complete re-fret, new bone nut and saddle, one repaired top crack, and two repaired back cracks. The bridge had been slightly shaved down at some point, so our luthier shimmed it with a piece of rosewood to preserve the original bridge and raise it to the appropriate height.
The overall condition of this guitar, notwithstanding the repairs noted above, is very good. The finish has checked beautifully and fingerboard and inlays are clean and great looking. The guitar presents as a well-played vintage guitar, which it is, but all thoughts of appearance become secondary once you hear it. What a glorious sounding guitar. Truly the epitome of what a banner Southern Jumbo should be.
