Summary: With the soul of a 1950s archtop, the 5th Avenue is a true vintage spirit of yesterday with today’s level of modern playability. With more projection & volume in the low/mids than traditional acoustic archtop guitars, the dynamically rich tone of the 5th Avenue makes this sophisticated instrument a dream to play but not a nightmare on your wallet. The Godin 5th Avenue now makes the dream of owning an affordable North American archtop a reality! From Alt-Country, Delta Blues, Slide, Jazz to Rock, the 5th Avenue can really deliver both acoustically and electrically. This Godin is in great shape with almost no wear, it ships in its original sturdy hard shell case w/ black strap and strap locks.
Body: Made from Canadian Wild Cherry, the body of the 5th Avenue features a molded arched top and back; as well as an adjustable bridge, classic F-holes, contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard, and cream binding. The rustic beauty of its Custom Polished Finish creates a gorgeous satin sheen reminiscent of the 19th century.
Neck: The neck is silver leaf maple with a rosewood fretboard, a 1.72” nut width, 24.84” scale length & pearl dot inlays.
Pickups/Hardware: The Godin Kingpin P90 single-coil pickup delivers all that classic vintage tone with presence, clarity, and a little attitude thrown in for good measure! It has 1 volume, 1 tone, tune-o-matic bridge, trapeze tailpiece, Kluson style nickel pated tuners and a 3 ply tortoise pickguard.
Cosmetics: The satin finish on the body and neck are in fantastic condition and the guitar shows no major cracks, breaks, scratches or visible repairs. The frets are in great shape and have tons of life left in them. There is a small nick in the top of the headstock. It also has strap lock style strap buttons.
Playability: This Godin has been inspected, set up and restrung by our in house guitar tech with 10 guage strings. The action is low, the neck is straight and there is a really satisfying bite to the tone if you dig in but played lightly has a beautiful rich sustain and bloom to the note.
Modifications: The bridge has been upgraded to a tune-o-matic bridge.
