late 1960s Goya Panther II Bass
This Italian-made bass is a rare bird straight out of the 1960s with a fantastic and unique sound. The space-age inspired offset body sports a super cool cherry burst finish. The neck is thin and comfortable, fabulously adorned with the distinctively elongated Goya headstock. Goya’s unique rocker switch system allows you to select between the two split single coil pickups, activate both pickups simultaneously, or to mute them both entirely. A second series of switches acts as tone control, giving you options for high, medium, or low tone. The neck is nice and thin, great for quick runs up and down the fret board. The bass even includes the chrome pickup and bridge covers as well as the wood thumb rest. These basses are quite rare and to find one in this condition is a nearly impossible task! The finish is very clean with only light play wear. The original Goya pickguard only adds to the unique style of this bass. The frets are a bit worn but it plays great with only a bit of buzz above the 12th fret. All parts look to be original although the truss rod cover is unfortunately missing. The body is on the heavier side (9 lbs 2 ounces) but the elongated headstock helps to alleviate any imbalances. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind vintage bass to add to your collection this Panther is the kitty for you! Includes original hard shell case.
