Description
1961 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Orange, in great vintage condition. This one is a real joy to have in the shop, this era of this iconic guitar are few and far between. Unreservedly a twang machine, both unplugged and amplified - this is that iconic Rockabilly sound all over, with the looks to match. These 1961 models had a slightly slimmer 2.25" body depth, which feels very comfortable to play.
All original aside from a fantastic professional re-fret, new bone nut, the roller bridge was replaced but original is included and the neck heel cap looks to have likely been replaced, which is indicating that there was most likely a professional neck reset carried out to benefit playability. Everything aside from the heel cap blacklights perfect, it's glowing like the day it was made so nothing is pointing to anything additional being done.
Overall, this is an absolute joy to play, the minute you get your hand on the Bigsby it's evident what this guitar is all about and what this guitar can give. Includes an original period Gretsch case and original roller bridge.
