A killer 1954 Duo Jet with Bigsby Vibrato! Plays great with a chunkier "C" neck profile and sounds fantastic with the DynaSonics flawlessly representing the chambered body with excellent touch response for a lovely woody, vintage tone with classic American twang and clarity. Original with the exception of a replaced master volume back plate, a replaced nut, and a refret. In great overall condition for its age with finish checking, dings, a patina, and expected playwear. A super vibey example of a 6128! Includes original hardshell case.

"Paul Bigsby built the first modern solid-body electric guitar in 1948. Leo Fender borrowed this guitar, released the 'Broadcaster' in 1950, and took all the credit for decades. Another two years later, Gibson released the 'Les Paul' model, and even less subtle copy of Bigsby’s guitar which Les famously claimed as his own design up until his death. A year later in 1953, Gretsch premiered their version of this revolutionary new instrument. Why do I love Gretsch? They actually made a number of significant design changes specific to the 'Duo Jet' and made absolutely no claims to its invention whatsoever. Apparently, the gargantuan egos so rampant in Southern California at the time simply couldn’t squeeze their way into Brooklyn. The sound of a chambered solid body guitar with Dynasonics remains one of the tonal staples of the American electric guitar, and ironically has been copied countless times over the decades.
This 1954 example checks all the boxes. The pickups are dynamic and open. The weight is simply unbeatable. The fixed-arm Bigsby, though, might be my favorite feature. A perfect embodiment of the masochism that lies at the heart of all vintage enthusiasm; the insatiable need to feel something, anything, even if it’s the pangs of fruitless inconvenience. This particular guitar has remained mostly untouched, with only a refret and replaced nut in addition to a newer control plate. They aren’t making any more of these, and clean specimens are becoming rarer by the day. Call today for an in-hand description."
