Here we have a 1977 Gretsch 7680 Super Axe with built-in phaser and compressor effects. This guitar is in excellent condition with just a couple of patches of finish wear on the back of the neck (see photos) but otherwise in remarkable condition for a guitar of this age.
Basic Specs: Bound headstock. Nickel Grover tuners with big buttons. 1 11/16 inch nut with zero fret. Maple neck with 24.5 inch scale length. Neck depth measures .80 inches at the first fret and .90 inches at the twelfth fret. Bound “Ebonized” Rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets. Original humbucking pickups with CTS pots dating to 1976 and 1977. Wraparound bridge. Silver back-painted pickguard. Black control panel with the following controls: Phaser On/Off toggle switch, Phaser Blend knob, Phaser Rate knob, Master Volume knob, Compression On/Off toggle switch, and Sustain knob. Double bound slim body with a Florentine cutaway.
This guitar is crazy cool and really earns its “Super Axe” name. More fun than a barrel of monkeys, and only if those monkeys came with onboard Phaser and Compression settings. Well, we really like it as you can tell. Nice and clean and ready for your playing pleasure. Comes with a blue-lined hardshell case.
